The CHICHIBU distillery was reopened in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, the grandson of the founder of the first CHICHIBU (Hanyu) distillery, in the Japanese prefecture of Saitama. The distillery was completely rebuilt, but the old stills of the old distillery continue to be used.
