JI-Whisky
Local Sochu and sake distilleries started producing whisky in small quantities after the Second World War, often only a few weeks or months a year. These are only distributed locally. The Japanese word "地" (JI) means local or surrounding, so the "地 ウ ィ キ ー" (JI whisky) means local whisky.

The origin of sake and Sochu distillery you notice the whisky, which makes it so interesting. Many of these whiskys are very well made and have already won international awards. Some well-known JI whisky producers are:
