Hombo Mars distillery

In 1953, Hombo Mars opened its first whisky distillery in Kagoshima (now closed). In 1985, an additional distillery was opened in Miyata. In 2011, the distillery in Miyata was renovated and expanded. Hombo Mars has been producing whisky on a large scale again since 2013. Only water from the company's own well and malt from Scotland are used to produce their whisky.

Technical information about the Hombo Mars distillery:

Mash tuns: 1x 5,000 liters made of stainless steel

Fermentation tanks: 5x 5,700 liters made of cast iron

Stills: 1x “Wash Still” with 1x 5,800 liters and a “Spirit Still” with 5,600 liters which are heated with steam.

Annual distillation capacity: 95,000 liters of alcohol
