The fourth edition of "The Essence of Suntory Whisky" was officially released only in bars and was never available for purchase in stores in Japan. There were two different bottlings. The whisky matured in bourbon casks for 15 years from 2000 before being finished for three years in Japanese cherry wood casks. Additionally, it was blended with 12- to 21-year-old single grain whiskies from the Chita distillery before being bottled at cask strength.
