In the 1990s, Japanese whisky producers had to come up with some special ideas to boost sales. One attempt was Nikka Aqua Whisky, which promised a particularly mild flavor. The whisky was bottled at only 25% ABV and was a commercial flop. Production was discontinued after only six months. Today the bottles are extremely rare and in high demand among collectors.
