In the 1980s, Kirn introduced this premium blend to the Japanese market. There were two versions: Saturday No. 1 and Saturday No. 2. Saturday No. 1 is intended for Friday nights, when you celebrate with friends. Saturday No. 2 is for Saturday evenings, as it's considerably milder and has a higher grain whisky content to help combat the hangover from the previous day. In addition, it was advertised that these two bottles were so-called "high performance whiskies".
