This Pure Malt Whisky was the first single malt whisky from Japan, released in 1984. It doesn't carry the "Single Malt Whisky" designation, however, as this term wasn't introduced in Japan until the late 1980s. Only the finest malt whiskies from the Yoichi distillery were used for this whisky, giving it a slightly salty, peaty, and smoky character. Nikka discontinued this bottling eight years ago.
Due to the age of the bottle, the fill level is no longer optimal.
